Arsenic
and Old Lace revolves around two charming and innocent
ladies of certain age, who, with the help of some highly
spiked elderberry wine, populate their cellar with the
remains of socially or religiously "acceptable"
roomers. The Brewster sisters and the rest of their
comical lunatic family won rave reviews when the play
opened and ran in New York for three years!
"Let's not exaggerate! At some time there may
have been a funnier murder charade than Arsenic and
Old Lace... But the supposition is purely academic."
